Join the LDI Town Hall

VANCOUVER, BC (Feb. 3, 2022) — As we enter 2022, the Landform Design Institute is capitalizing on the work we’ve achieved so far by embracing an ambitious agenda to create sustainable mining landscapes. To give you a better idea of what our community can accomplish (with your help), please join one of two online Town Halls on February 8 and 9, 2022.

The first meeting begins Feb. 8 at 9 a.m. Pacific time (Noon Eastern) and runs until 11 a.m. PT (2 p.m. ET) The meeting link is here.

The second meeting begins Feb. 9 at 9 a.m. Australian Western Standard Time and 11 a.m. Australian Eastern Standard Time (5 p.m. Pacific Time in Canada and the US, and 8 p.m. ET on Feb. 8). It will run for 2 hours. The meeting link is here.

Members of the LDI Board and Technical Advisory Panel will be on hand during the Town Hall to discuss our plans for the future, and participants will have a chance to get to know each other and what each of us can contribute. As well, LDI Chair and Founder Gord McKenna will provide details on the advantages of becoming a corporate member. This will also represent a follow-up to the enthusiasm generated at the first Annual General Meeting in July of 2021.

In our first two years, the LDI established a board and an international multidisciplinary technical advisory panel, published a groundbreaking position paper, produced a landform design video-vignette series that Gord McKenna hosts and a podcast series hosted by Board member Mike Okane, published several major essays in the Quarterly, provided dozens of lectures to students and practitioners, and organized a 40-hour graduate-level landform design course. This year, we are continuing with these efforts and adding how-to resources and tools and publishing our next position paper. Please join our Town Hall, and consider joining the LDI as a corporate member. The LDI will only be successful if companies like yours are part of the team. You know what can be done, what needs to change, and who should be involved. You should have a seat at the table, input into setting course curricula, and a role in our efforts to influence progress in the field. If you cannot make the Town Hall, please feel free to contact Gord McKenna directly by email at gord@landformdesign.com or at +1-604-838-6773. More information is also available at landformdesign.com.

We look forward to seeing you (virtually) at the Town Hall.
