LDI to hold AGM May 10, 2022
VANCOUVER, BC (April 22, 2022) — The Landform Design Institute will hold its Annual General Meeting virtually on May 10, 2022, beginning with an update on the Institute’s activities by founder and chair, Gord McKenna, followed by a discussion of topics of interest to the Board, Technical Advisory Panel (TAP), and membership.
As society emerges from the lockdowns of COVID, the Institute has been extremely active, producing an extensive video-vignettes series for members, holding a tow hall to seek out the views of members on what the Institute should be prioritizing, staging the inaugural meeting of the TAP, and retaining the services of a new administrator, Jasmine Winter. Jasmine has been instrumental in helping the Institute pursue the additional corporate, individual, and student memberships needed for future program implementation.
These efforts are in addition to the major LDI accomplishments of its first two and a half years that have been open to all: the inaugural 40-hour graduate-level landform design course, production of a ground-breaking position paper, a postcast series, and the publication of several major essays in the Landform Design Quarterly. Look for the spring issue coming out in May. “The Institute is really thrilled to be well on our way to making landform design common in the mining industry by 2030,” said Dr. McKenna, who also produced a six-part lecture series for UBC that will soon be made available to members.
After the May 10 annual general meeting, the Institute will be providing a subsequent overview of its projects and objectives for the following year, and continuing its highly successful corporate membership drive, about which more information is forthcoming. The LDI will also hope to expand its individual memberships, which are $90 for every practitioner and individual party, so that many more professionals with an interest in sustainable mining can benefit from the Institute’s ongoing production of invaluable information and resources.
